Here are this week’s best deals, all gleaned from Calgary grocery flyers. I’ve really found that once you master the skill of buying mostly sale items (also called loss leaders) you can save a huge amount of money each week.
It might not make sense for you to travel to all of the different grocery stores that have great offers this week, but even if you visit the ones to stock up on the best deals on items you use the most – well, you’ve saved a great deal!
I hope these deals help you save some of your hard earned money this week on your grocery shopping in Calgary. With prices these days, shopping the sales really can make a huge difference to our budgets. 🙂
Safeway grocery deals
- $0.99 for English cucumbers
- $0.99 for Kraft BBQ sauce – stock up price
- $2.99 for Chapman’s super premium ice cream, 1.5 liter
- 50% off Jamieson vitamins *with your Scene card, otherwise 30% off
- Catelli Garden Select pasta sauce 2/$3 + 100 Scene points
- Lemons or limes $0.79 plus 100 Scene points when you buy 4
- Compliments baby carrots (1 lb bags) 2/$4
- Compliments hamburger buns, 12 $1.87 *I’d buy an extra pack or two for the freezer at that price*
Freshco flyer deals
- $2.49/lb for cherries – best price I’ve seen so far this year! Man, I love cherry season.
- Maple Leaf hot dogs – Top Dogs or Mina Chicken hot dogs (The maple leaf variety also happens to be gluten free!) $2.99 – $2.00 off Freshco’s regular price
- Sweet peppers, 4 pack $2.99
- Compliments frozen fruit $3.99
Walmart Calgary flyer deals
- Seedless cucumbers $0.94
- Cherries $3.44/lb – not quite as good as Freshco’s $2.99/lb deal, but still pretty good.
- Redpath white sugar, 2 kg $1.98 – good pantry stock up price
- $3.44 for berries: 1 pint blueberries, 170 grams of raspberries or 1 lb strawberries (I think Save On has a better deal this week on raspberries, though.)
- Ataulfo mangoes $0.94
Save On Foods deals
- $8.99 Western Family pork back ribs (610 grams)
- 50% off deli Havarti cheese. Yum, nice on grilled burgers this time of year. 🙂
- Maple Leaf Prime chicken thighs, boneless and skinless, fresh – 900 grams $12 (Their small pack of these is regularly $11, so this is a great deal!)
- Inspired Greens living lettuce, a few varieties $1.99
- Raspberries, 170 grams $2.99 (Best price in Calgary this week!)
- Green grapes $3.99/lb
- Strawberries $3.99/lb
- Parsley, cilantro or green onions – all $0.99
- Ground turkey – Buy 1 Get 1 Free (either ground turkey breast or turkey thigh meat.)
- Maple Leaf Top dogs hot dogs $2.49 – an even better deal than Freshco! (There’s a deal that if you buy 2 packs of Top Dogs you can get 1 free bag of Ruffles chips, 180-200 gram size bags)
- Bakery – Scotch baps (buns) 4 for $1. Only $0.25 each, a great deal.\
- Bulk section – Roasted peanuts $0.69/100 grams
- Dove Men hair care $5.99 (The only better deal this week is if you want to buy 4 bottles on Amazon for a total of $19.96)
No Frills
- Green or red grapes $2.44/lb -an awesome price!
- 700 gram bars of No Name cheese $7.50 and a 2000 PC Optimum deal essentially take this down to $5.50, which is great.
- Maple Leaf Natural Selections deli meat (regular size) $5
- No Name english muffins or bagels $1.99
- GALLO Olive Oil 1 liter $8.99 – insane deal for Olive oil! Last week this same price was also on, and we bought three bottles, thinking the deal would be over today. LOL Still – glad we stocked up.
- Green Giant frozen veggies $3
Superstore

- Jasmine Gold jasmine rice, 18 kg bag $27.99 (First 4, after that $38.99 each)
