Bowflex Motivator 2 – Is it Still Available?

Here's a picture of the bowflex motivator 2 home gym.

The Bowflex Motivator 2 is a popular home gym that is in high demand today due to the pandemic. And this makes sense because in many places, gyms and workout studios are closed. Also, in places where these are still open, many people are nervous to go to these places due to fear of catching the virus. As a result, many are now purchasing home gyms to keep themselves in shape.

At the top of the list is the Bowflex Motivator 2. And it makes sense because this is a versatile home gym that can give anyone a quality full body workout. Also, it is easy to move from one exercise to another. It is not big and bulky like some other home gyms on the market. And finally, it is fairly durable. So where can I purchase it?

Bowflex Motivator 2 – Discontinued

Unfortunately, this product has been discontinued. Are there any other options that Bowflex provides? Fortunately, there are a couple other home gyms that are available such as the Bowflex Pr 1000, Bowflex Pr3000 and Bowflex Blaze. These home gyms are very similar to the Bowflex Motivator 2 in providing a variety of exercises, durability and easy transition. For further analysis, please have a look at the following Bowflex home gyms below:

Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym

Bowflex Blaze Home Gym

Conclusion

The Bowflex Motivator 2 might be discontinued but all is not lost. There are alternative home gyms available such as the Bowflex Pr1000, the Bowflex Pr3000 and the Bowflex Blaze. These home gyms provide similar results and quality as provided by the Motivator 2. So if you are looking to keep in shape during these unprecedented times and going to the gym is not an option. Perhaps getting a Bowflex might be for you! Take care and stay safe everyone.

10 Natural (and Cheap!) Ways to Treat and Prevent Heartburn and Acid Reflux

It happens to all of us occasionally – heartburn strikes! There is that terrible, burning sensation in your chest, and you may feel that acid burn right up in your throat. Not a lovely feeling. And if it happens at night, heartburn can even cause you insomnia. But, instead of always reaching for a prescription medication, are there natural heartburn remedies you can try instead? Yes! We’ve researched 10 tried and true ways to treat heartburn at home with common items you likely have around anyway.

These are helpful tips to try, but please always talk to a doctor about any new health issue you have. Heartburn could be a sign of something more serious.

1. Battle heartburn with baking soda

Baking soda is one amazing ingredient to have around the home! (We’ve also written about 10 Ways to Use Baking Soda to Clean your Home, so check that out for other ideas.)Once you’ve tackled your heartburn, you can go and clean the toilet with the same ingredient! Huh!) What we most often think of as a rising agent in baking, can also help treat heartburn naturally. Simply add about one teaspoon of baking soda to a small glass of water and stir well to dissolve. Then, drink up! Baking soda is naturally alkaline, so it can help to reduce acid. (But, if you’re watching sodium content then please be careful before trying this tip. Just one teaspoon of baking soda contains a whopping 1250 mg of sodium!! If you have high blood pressure, you also shouldn’t try this tip because of the very high sodium content in baking soda. But don’t worry, our other tips should be helpful for you!)

2. Drink a glass of milk

Again, milk is an alkaline – not acidic – substance, that can naturally help to combat either heartburn or acid reflux. Some people find a lot of relief by drinking a small glass of cold milk when their heartburn is acting up.

3. Prevent heartburn by reducing how much coffee you drink

Ahhh, sweet coffee! I love it too, but too much coffee – which is, again, very acidic – can create more problems for those of us with regular heartburn and/or acid reflux issues. Limit your coffee and overall caffeine intake to help prevent more problems with heartburn. And if you do have a cup of coffee, it helps to add milk to it rather than pure coffee alone. (Or milky coffees like lattes or cappuccinos will cause fewer problems than very strong coffee like an espresso.)

4. Limit how many citrus fruits (oranges, lemons) you eat

Delicious as they may be – and healthy too! – citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes, and mandarin oranges – are all packed full of acid. (This is why they’re damaging to teeth enamel too. Side tip: drink a glass of water after eating citrus fruits to limit the damage on your teeth.) Limit how many citrus fruits you eat, or how much citrus fruit juice you drink. Some people find that if they have a small glass of orange juice with food, they’re okay. (The food may help absorb the acid of the fruit juice.) But, some people are very sensitive to citrus fruits, and need to make them only an occasional treat.

5. Drink a little aloe juice

Now, aloe juice may not be an ingredient we all have in our pantries regularly. But, you may have an aloe plant somewhere in your home! Drinking a little natural aloe plant juice is a wonderful way to soothe away some of the discomfort of heartburn. You can also purchase actual aloe juice at health food stores. If you’re prone to heartburn, this might be a good item to keep on hand to treat it naturally when it strikes next. The juice is easy to drink, whereas the aloe gel that comes straight from the plant may not be quite as palatable.

6. Eat a banana

Bananas are naturally very alkaline, and they seem to soothe a lot of stomach problems and ailments! Eating a banana can help ease away the pain and discomfort of heartburn or acid reflux. And hey, they happen to be pretty yummy, too. Delicious snack plus heartburn treatment all in one little yellow package.

7. Eat a few plain crackers (soda crackers)

I remember my Mom suggesting this when I was a child, and it works! Eat a few soda crackers or other very plain crackers. It seems to help absorb some of the excess acid in your stomach and makes you feel a bit better.

8. Don’t eat so late at night

I know, I know! This sounds so judgey. But, if you cut back on late night snacking, you may find that you have fewer problems with heartburn in the middle of the night.

9. Raise your head up on a pillow (when trying to sleep)

Raising your head up a bit higher on an extra pillow will help prevent the additional acid from sneaking up your esophagus and causing you discomfort. This simple tip really works! But hopefully it won’t give you a neck ache the next morning!

10. Try a little Apple Cider Vinegar in water

This seems totally counterproductive, right? Why would you want to consume additional acid when you’re already suffering with too much acid in your stomach? And yet, many people find that their problems with heartburn are caused by too little acid being produced in their stomachs. For some people, a spoonful of natural apple cider vinegar (the good kind, with a ‘mother’ in the bottle) in a small glass of lukewarm or cool water can be very helpful. It can help balance out the healthy acid in your stomach.

We hope these tips have helped soothe your heartburn, and that you’ll be able to get on with your day, or even have a wonderful nighttime sleep. If you have other natural heartburn tips that are tried and true, please let us know about them!

Well.ca sales and specials this week: SunBum lip balm for $0.25 (No joke!) and Only $1.50 for kids’ sunscreen

While I was trying (without much success!) this week to find some foaming soap refills for our soap dispensers, I came upon some great options at Well.ca! This was my first every order with Well.ca and I have to say I’ve been really happy so far. The price on the foaming soap refills were better than anywhere else (Amazon was WAY more expensive, which surprised me!) and the processing was very fast. I’ll post a link to the soap, if they still have any available.

But, while I was there on their site anyway, my bargain hunting tendencies got the best of me and I started to look for the best sales and deals they have going on right now. Here are all the best deals this week:

Watkins Foaming Soap Refills Canada

  • Like I said, this stuff was hard to find! Both the Lemon and Green Tea variety were still available the last time I checked. Each packet of 828 ml size allows you to fill their foaming soap pump about three times. I stocked up, because over this crazy COVID and flu season, I wanted to make sure to not run out of soap! The large packages of refill soap are $6.99 each – the best price I could find, period. If you guys find a better price, please let me know – whether it’s online or offline!

Boiron Products – 25% off at Well.ca until October 25, 2020

  • Boiron products are a wide range of homeopathic and natural treatments and therapies for cold and flu season. All of these products are on for 25% off until October 25. They have family bundles of cold and flu natural medicines – this one is on sale for $39.13 right now and includes Oscillococcinum and Boiron Stodal for Adults syrup. (That is their type of homeopathic cough and cold syrup; excellent if you want to try something more naturally derived than the cough syrup you generally can get at the drug store.)

CLEARANCE ITEMS at Well.ca this Week

Now for the ultimate money savers! These items are up to 60% off in Well.ca’s clearance section. We’ll start with the cheapest items first, because you know we like cheap around here. 😉

  • Only $0.25 for SunBum lip balm – I picked up four of the coconut lip balms, because hey – 4 for a buck is an eyepopping kind of deal! Oops, the coconut is sold out but there is still a banana variety that gets a very good rating and a pomegranate flavour too. Has an SPF of 30, which is handy to keep your lips protected in the sometimes harsh sun of winter. (Which has well and truly arrived here in Calgary. Ugh.)
  • Only $1.50 for Badger Natural Kids sunscreen – regularly $29.00 – Wowser! i need to post these bargains quickly so you guys actually get a chance to snag these before they’re all gone. SPF 40 by the way – and I’m pretty sure the sunscreen police won’t charge you IF you as an adult wear this kids’ sunscreen. (Wish I had seen this one before I placed my order! hahaha)
  • Only $4.00 for Little Ones toy cleaner – all natural toy cleaner to scrub clean those toys that kids get yucky. Which, of course, is all the toys they touch! The brand on this is Attitude Nature Plus.

I hope you guys can snag whatever items it is you need this week from Well.ca. I seriously want to post this in the hopes that you can get some of these incredible deals before they’re gone. And as a helpful reminder: Shipping is FREE on Well.ca when you spend $35 or more.

Happy shopping, everyone! And hope there’s less snow where you are.

Toilet paper Amazon – Finding deals on toilet paper online

Remember at the beginning of the pandemic, when all the jokes were about toilet paper? If you were actually looking for toilet paper at that time – let’s say back in March and April 2020 – then it might not have felt like much of a joke to you! Pretty much any store you walked in to was completely wiped out (ha! Pun!) of toilet paper. One day, our friend came over and gave us a HUGE mega pack of toilet paper, since they had so much of it. It felt like we’d been gifted a sack of gold!

So, this time around we’re keeping you updated on what toilet paper is available online. At the peak of the first wave of the pandemic, even Amazon was sold out of toilet paper. But, at this time – end of July 2020 – there’s still lots of selection to choose from on Amazon. So, we did some research to discover what’s available right now, so that you can slowly stock back up on this necessary item. We know everyone has their own preference of toilet paper, so we’ll show a number of brands.

Cottonelle – 12 Mega Rolls = 48 regular rolls

Cottonelle Toilet Paper, Ultra Cleancare, Strong Biodegradable Bath Tissue, 12 Mega Rolls 12 count
Currently $15.99 per pack or $0.33/roll (based on 48 regular rolls)
With these mega rolls, you’ll need to change the toilet paper way less often!

Charmin Ultra Strong – 18 mega rolls = 72 regular rolls

Charmin Ultra Strong Toilet Paper 18 Mega Rolls Bathroom Tissue = 72 Regular Rolls
$22.98 = $0.32 per roll (based on 72 rolls)
Each of these huge toilet paper rolls is like 4 regular rolls of toilet paper!

Royale Velour Toilet paper – 12 double rolls = 24 regular rolls

Royale Velour, Plush & Thick Toilet Paper, 12 Double equal 24 rolls, 142 bath tissues per roll
$9.97 for a 12 double roll pack = $0.42/roll (based on 24 roll equivalent)
The Royale Velour toilet paper is definitely the priciest AND poshest toilet paper on our list! Customers rave about how soft and comfy it is. (And can I just say…I love that people review toilet paper! That made me giggle a bit.)

Based on prices right now, Monday, July 27, 2020 – the best deal on Amazon.ca for toilet paper is: the Charmin! (Our #2 choice, above. Yes, and I did just write #2. LOL)

The beauty of buying your toilet paper online is that it comes delivered right to your door. For many of us right now, the idea of NOT having to go to the grocery store any more than we have to is wonderful! Hopefully you found the deal you were looking for today, and can start restocking your supply of toilet paper. Then, you won’t need to go rushing to the stores if there’s another toilet paper shortage in the future. And you’ll even have enough to share an extra pack with a friend!
